MAX WAX is hiring mobile valeting and detailing technicians across Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire. Basic salary £25,500 to £28,000 depending on experience, a weekly performance bonus of up to £300+, an optional weekend day worth up to £7,000 a year, and a fully expensed Kia PV5 electric van. Realistic earnings £45,000 to £50,000 a year. At least two years’ professional valeting or detailing experience and a full UK manual licence are essential; this is not a trainee role. How you earn
How the pay works
Your pay is made up of three parts. Here they are, with the actual figures.
£25,500 – £28,000 basic
Depending on experience. Paid monthly, guaranteed.
Guaranteed.
+ up to £7,000 a year
For technicians on the weekend rota. One weekend day a week, never both.
Optional.
+ up to £300+ a week
The bonus can go past £300 in a week, especially if you’re working an extra day on the weekend. Hit your targets week in, week out and it’s £15,000 a year or more. Paid weekly.

Put together, a technician who works a weekend day and hits targets most weeks earns £45,000 to £50,000 a year.
How the bonus works. It’s a share of everything you turn over in the week, paid weekly, and it’s only paid if you’ve completed detailed feedback on every job and no customer has complained. The share goes up with the extra work customers add on once they’ve seen what you can do, so what it rewards is giving the best advice and caring about the job in front of you. If a job can’t be done properly in the time, you say so and the office resets expectations. It builds, too: the longer you’re with us, the more of your customers are on maintenance plans and the fuller your diary is with work you created.

Your van, your area
You work independently at customer premises across your patch in a fully expensed Kia PV5 electric van, with charging, insurance and maintenance all covered. A home charger at your property is possible too. It depends on your circumstances, so it’s something we talk through with you.

Valeting, paint correction, ceramic coatings, specialist treatments and lease-return preparation, on everything from family cars to high-end performance and prestige marques.

The right person
At least two years’ professional valeting or detailing experience. A full UK manual driving licence and the right to work in the UK. All three are essential. An eye for detail. Reliable, self-motivated and professional in front of customers. Happy to follow the way we do things, which we’ve refined over 20 years. Pride in your work, your van and how you present yourself.
It isn’t for you if
You see valeting as basic wash-and-go work. You’re after something casual or short-term. You have under two years’ professional experience. You’re a hobbyist rather than a professional. Or you don’t much care how you and your van look when you pull up.

We used to franchise MAX WAX. We don’t any more, and we won’t again. What we do now is simpler. If you’ve built a detailing business of your own and the winters, the overheads and the admin have taken the shine off it, we’ll make you an offer for your customer book and give you a job at the same time. Do I need valeting or detailing experience?
Yes. At least two years’ professional valeting or detailing experience is essential, and this is not a trainee position. Every new technician still does a four-week intensive training course with our lead technician before going solo, so you learn our way of working. What we can’t teach is attitude. We need people who turn up, take pride in the work and notice the small things.
What are the hours?
Monday to Friday, with an optional weekend rota. If you join the rota it’s one weekend day a week, never both, and it’s worth up to £7,000 a year on top of your basic.
Do I get a van?
Yes, once you’ve completed your training. A fully expensed Kia PV5 electric van with charging, insurance and maintenance covered. You work from it independently at customer premises across your area. Installing a charger at your property is possible in many cases, but it depends on your circumstances, so we talk it through with you.
